Social skills training for neurodiverse teens and young adults
get startedWhat is PEERS® RVA?
Social skills training for autism can transform how neurodivergent individuals navigate friendships, relationships, and everyday interactions. At PEERS® RVA, we provide evidence-based social skills classes designed specifically for teens and young adults with autism, ADHD, and other neurodivergent conditions. Whether you or your student struggles with making friends, understanding social cues, or managing conflict, our proven PEERS® program offers the support they need to thrive.
Evidence-Based Social Skills Training
Based in Richmond, VA, we offer both in-person and online social skills training that reaches families nationwide. Additionally, our program uses the UCLA-developed PEERS® curriculum, developed by Dr. Elizabeth Laugeson and Dr. Fred Frankel at UCLA—one of the most researched and effective social skills interventions available. Used in over 150 countries, PEERS® is a trusted, evidence-based curriculum. Unlike traditional therapy, our approach combines evidence-based teaching with perspective taking exercises where students analyze video scenarios, allowing participants to see real-world social situations unfold and practice responding in a supportive environment.
Real-Life Skills That Build Independence
What makes PEERS® RVA different? We focus on real-life skills that matter. For example, our curriculum covers everything from making and keeping friends to navigating the complex world of dating and romantic relationships.
Furthermore, we teach practical skills like how to start conversations, handle disagreements, manage social media appropriately, and develop financial literacy utilizing an evidence-based curriculum adapted from Michigan State University. These aren’t just abstract concepts—they’re the building blocks of independence and confidence.
Small Classes with Personalized Support
Our small class sizes ensure that every participant receives personalized attention and meaningful feedback. Moreover, families are active partners in the learning process, attending concurrent sessions where they learn how to coach and support their teen or young adult at home. This family-centered approach creates lasting change that extends far beyond our classroom.
Accessible Online and In-Person Options
Whether you’re in Richmond or anywhere else in the world, PEERS® RVA’s live, online, small group classes make quality social skills training accessible. In-person classes and seminars are also available, in addition to week-long summer camps. Our participants report increased confidence, stronger friendships, better relationships, and improved success in school and work environments. If you’re ready to help yourself, your teen or young adult develop social skills for a fulfilling, independent life, we’re here to help.

What Parents Are Saying
"PEERS has given my daughter so much confidence in social interactions. She is much more comfortable setting up outings with friends and introducing herself in new situations."
"PEERS has made our son more aware of social situations. He can better identify when he needs to self-regulate as well as realize when he's 'policing' situations. PEERS has also benefited our family by making him aware of social cues and has helped with his sibling."
"Good intro to a number of topics that are not easily addressed. My son has difficulty making friends, so [PEERS RVA] will hopefully benefit down the road some. We hope he will make some new friends at his school."

Learning through Modeling
PEERS® RVA is unique in that we use live actors to model social skills.
